"I sit beside the fire, and think of all that I have seen." – Year-to-year the Hungarian Tolkien Society organizes the Creative Autumn Art Meeting (KÖMT), welcoming everyone who is interested in Tolkien's world of fantasy! Join us for an unforgettable festivity in the Fourth Age of the Sun under the oak trees of Hobbiton.
KÖMT 2010 – "I sit beside the fire, and think of all that I have seen."
This year, the Creative Autumn Art Meeting of the Hungarian Tolkien Society (MTT) is going to be held in Zebegény for the third time now, and again, all of our Tolkien-loving friends outside our borders are invited.
The timing is a bit unconventional: 4-7 November,
The Szőnyi István Primary and Art School is going to host the program, the organizers and all the inquisitive guests, who would like to be absorbed in the world of Middle Earth. Accomodation will be provided in the classrooms of the school, so bringing bedrolls and mattresses is strongly recommended. On demand, higher class accomodation (apartments, hostels) can be found in Zebegény, but individual arrangement is necessary in that case.
Background story
This year's Creative Autumn Art Meeting brings us to Hobbiton in the Fourth Age, where the guests will have the opportunity to bring along minor performances. For the six-time Mayor of the Shire, good ol' Samwise Gamgee gives a special party at the Day of the Ring (Cormare), that is also the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggings – if anyone could still recall who they were, anyway.
On the last evening of the celebration, a great feast is going to be held, where anyone can perform a song or dance or a small play – either invented in one of the workshops of the festival, or rehearsed and practised beforehand – to entertain the appreciative audience and offer thanks to the Shire's beloved Mayor. It is still possible to apply with any type of performance, but the theme is strictly set: the tales of the Red Book of Westmarch, that is The Hobbit and the Lord Of The Rings.
Workshops
The workshops are the mainframe of the whole programme, but this year with a variety never before encountered, to provide our guests the opportunity of trying out as many creative activities in two days as they wish. This means that most of the workshops are 1.5 hours long (up to four hours). The partakers may pick and choose from these to form a timetable of their liking on the application form, which is coming out shortly.

"I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
In summers that have been;
Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.
I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.
For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.
I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think
of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door."
